Data We Collect
Tree Co. does not collect, store, or sell any personal data. We have no analytics, no crash reporting services, no user accounts, and no tracking of any kind. The only data that leaves your device is described in the Enhanced Analysis and Network Requests sections below.
Data Stored on Your Device
Tree Co. stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework: cached Pokémon data (fetched from PokéAPI for offline access), your team configurations, Living Dex progress, recently viewed Pokémon, app preferences, and Ask Dexter query history. All of this data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Network Requests
The app makes network requests to the following services. Pokémon data requests contain no personal information — only species names or IDs.
- PokéAPI (pokeapi.co) — Core Pokémon data
- pkmn.github.io — Competitive / Smogon data
- PokémonTCG (pokemontcg.io) — Trading card data
- Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) — Enhanced Analysis (opt-in, query text only)
AI Features
Tree Co. processes most queries entirely on your device using Apple's on-device AI (Foundation Models framework). No data leaves your device for these queries.
Enhanced Analysis (Dexter Pro)
Dexter Pro subscribers can optionally enable Enhanced Analysis, which sends your query text to our AI provider (Anthropic) for deeper competitive reasoning. When Enhanced Analysis is active:
- Your query text and relevant Pokémon data are sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
- No personal information, device identifiers, account data, or conversation history is included.
- Anthropic does not use your queries to train their models.
- Responses are not stored on any external server after delivery.
You can disable Enhanced Analysis at any time in Settings → Ask Dexter. When disabled, all processing stays entirely on your device. Free users receive 3 enhanced queries per day; this does not require a subscription.
In-App Purchases
Tree Co. offers optional in-app purchases processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Purchase verification is handled on-device via Apple's StoreKit 2 framework.
Children's Privacy
Tree Co. does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no user accounts, social features, or third-party advertising.
Third-Party Services
Tree Co. uses no third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools. External communication is limited to fetching public Pokémon data from the APIs listed above and, when Enhanced Analysis is enabled, sending query text to Anthropic for AI processing. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the changes will be reflected here with an updated date. We will never introduce analytics, advertising, or personal data collection.
